INTRANET TELEPHONY IN ASHOK LEYLAND This project Intranet telephony System is based on the technology where voice implemented over data networks. This intranet telephony is an ordinary telephone that permits users to place or receive calls between other telephones located at any site served by their company's network. Since the calls are carried over the company's data network like e-mail, there are no charges for these calls. This company has already implemented leased lines connecting their sites all over India. This means that the company will not incur any additional infrastructure cost in implementing the Intranet Telephone system. This telephone system is easy to implement and permits a fast return on investment, since the backbone is already installed. This technology is similar to transfer of data over the network established. Intranet Telephony simply means implementing voice communication over the company's Intranet just like Intranet e-mail. The network is designed to operate at a data rate of 2Mbps. The system provides a fast, seamless voice communication between the different sites of the company. The capacity of the system is also easily expandable providing very high system throughput, excellent range and immunity to interference. A Cisco router is used for the enterprises to integrate voice, fax and data across existing data infrastructures, while significantly reducing recurring communications costs. |
